Immokalee Road, Logan Boulevard and Vanderbilt Beach Road New 24-inch Force Main Project Design-Build
Project Overview
Location: Naples, FL
Client: Collier County
Completion Date: 2021
Overview
This Design-Build project involved the design and construction of 19,000 LF of 24” HDPE force main piping from the Heritage Bay Master Pump Station, west along Immokalee Road, then south along Logan Boulevard to MPS 104 located on Vanderbilt Beach Road.
In order to complete this project, QE fused together almost 4 miles of pipe. Fusing provides many advantages over traditional mechanical joints. By joining thermoplastic pipes, such as HDPE, a seamless and long-lasting pipe is created without the possibility of failed mechanical joints. This reliable method reduces future maintenance and repair costs. QE owns and operates 4 fusing machines, including the McElroy T1200, and is certified to fuse up to 48” IPS pipe.
The most effective method of pipe installation on this project was horizontal directional drilling. QE is one of only four companies in the state of Florida to own and operate the American Auger DD-440T maxi-rig directional drill. An industry-leader, it is the only track-mounted drill and offers the highest range of thrust/pullback power. Due to continued success and growth, the Company recently added a second 440 maxi-rig.
