Project Overview
Location: Naples, FL
Client: Collier County
Completion Date: 2021
Overview
The I-75 & Collier Blvd Utility Relocation Design-Build project involved the design and installation of over 20,000 LF of water main piping, varying in size up to 36” HDPE. The project was broken into nine segments and included both open cut and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).
This Design-Build required almost 4 miles of pipe installation! Pipe fusing (fusion) is a highly effective process that joins two pieces of thermoplastic pipe together with heat and pressure. Fused thermoplastic pipes create a monolithic (single) pipeline with less mechanical transitions, meaning less opportunities for leaks. EV owns and operates 4 fusing machines, including the McElroy T1200, and is certified to fuse up to 48” IPS pipe.
This project would not be possible without advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment! EV owns and operates two American Auger DD-440T directional drills. An industry-leader, it can drill horizontal lengths exceeding 7,000 LF and pipe sizes ranging from 6″ to 60″. It also allows for subaqueous pipe installation and the ability to work in environmentally-sensitive areas.
